Gentle Vet Animal Hospital, Dr. Ehud Sela: The Importance of early diagnosis and screening tests.

Just like with people early diagnosis of potential illnesses can be life saving.

In my practice I advise at least every six months complete blood work and urinalysis to detect any early changes. These test can be useful in detecting blood disorders, metabolic disease, such as diabetes, cushings disease, renal disease and liver disease.

I also routinely advise screening radiographs to detect internal disease not manifested in the blood test, and an ultrasound studies for the same reasons.

Early diagnosis can save a life for both pets and humans and is highly advisable and beneficial.
